The Butterfly on my Windshield

There's a butterfly on my windshield.
It's been there 'bout an hour.
I tried to move it once or twice,
but it won't budge an inch.

I tried yelling and waving my arms,
wildly like a monkey.
Yet there it stays without moving,
as if it were glued to my car.

I looked deep into its eyes,
and told that butterfly to move.
It looked at me with an evil grin,
so there on my car it lies.

There's a butterfly on my windshield.
I'm not sure what to do.
Maybe I should call the police,
and have them move this menace.

I just got off the telephone.
The police didn't care.
All they had to say to me,
was to stop calling them, or else.

There's a butterfly on my windshield.
I've decided to sit and watch it.
Of course I'm in a hurry still,
but that butterfly won't budge.

I've walked around my car five times,
gotten in and honked the horn.
That butterfly is determined
to make my car its home.

There's a butterfly on my windshield,
it's finally moved a wing.
If I stay here b'hind this tree,
perhaps that bug will leave.

There it goes into the sky,
a lovely sight to see.
Finally I can go to work,
and not have to sit and wait.

The butterfly is off my windshield.
It seems so happy and free.
Uh-oh, I think the little butterfly,
just ran into a tree.

It's lying there on the ground,
it won't move an antenna.
I've decided to sit here and wait,
until it decides to leave.

There's a butterfly on my windshield,
"how'd it get back there?", you say.
Unfortunately I reply, "I dare say that there butterfly,
tricked me today."

Now I sit here waiting patiently,
for that butterfly to move.
I should have left it on the ground
and left for work by now.

But there's a butterfly on my windshield,
it's disoriented from its fall.
I'm determined to sit here and wait,
until that pitiful butterfly says goodbye.
